"All Progress takes place outside the comfort zone", this quote resonates with me. My journey to open my Creative Workshop Studio and Artisan Boutique has definitely taken me out of my comfort zone! I have learned an enormous amount of knowledge and gained insight, both through being an entrepreneur, starting up a small business and about human nature.
Progress though is being made and it is damn exciting!
It seems to be taking forever and yet is all happening so quickly. It is possible to have both! I am at the stage of planning workshops, scheduling artisan set up, and planning an open house! I have 3 weeks to go, and I have faith it will all come together!
The feelings came to me in small bouts at first, unpacking my craft supplies, walking into the studio to the sunshine through the huge windows, and the beauty of this big old beautiful building! The walks in the neighborhood, the "hello's" and strangers opening my own door for me.
A few days ago though, the feels came to me all at once, starting while I was driving, turning off of Main Street. It was a feeling of warmth, and as I parked it got stronger, when I walked into the door of my studio, it enveloped me like a warm fleece blanket. Is this how people feel when they come home? That feeling has always escaped me, but this feeling, although new to me, it could just be what that is!
Set up has started, small additions that make me feel comfortable have been completed, like my Starbucks coffee, one of my favorite mugs, and my paints displayed. Oh and of course I got myself a studio cat. He keeps me great company but he has no concept of getting work done! He is not like my other cats at home who sleep all day. He just wants to look at me all day and be as close to me as possible. Even if that means sprawling out over my keyboard. His name is Jake, and I am sure I will have many Jake stories in the future! Oh and he doesn't think he belongs on the floor, he always has to be on my desk. I even have to keep a glass of water on the desk for him, because he doesn't drink out of a dish like other cats!
Artisans have begun there set up, giving me a visual to focus on of their hard work, passion and beauty.
